Go Ahead, Touch That!

Our whole lives we are taught to NOT touch things.

But when we touch things we feel things.

If we want to know the truth in our bodies, we must feel things.

Touching the world around us is a way to learn about ourselves.  How things feel inside.  What is true for us.

We must re-establish, remember, reconnect with the truth in our bodies on the spiritual awaking path..

(Go ahead, trust yourself to handle it.)

Touch the next five things that you see, and make note of how they feel inside your body...what sensations are elicited in your gut, your heart, your throat, your root.  Just hold them, touch them, and see what happens inside.

This beautiful shrub is a Quihoui Privet, a member of the Olive family native to Korea and China.

It makes me feel giddy inside.

Pro Tips for touching in nature:
  • Download the Iseek app to identify what you’re touching.
  • Make sure to avoid anything related to the poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac family.
  • Breathe in through your belly as you hold and touch a living thing.  Bring the awareness into the body, and embody yourself - your torso, your heart, your throat, your root - and then pay attention to what feelings are elicited.
  • Trust what you are drawn to touching.
  • Touch the living being with the entire palm, not just the fingertips.  Our palms exchange so much energy with the world around us. There is tremendous wisdom and knowledge from all the realms that is available through the palms.
  • Pause to touch the trees, and feel what that type of grounding feels like inside the body.
  • Honor whatever arises, there is no right or wrong feeling which is evoked within the body, there is simply true and untrue. If a feeling is true in the woods, it is true, right now. Honor that. It may or may not be true in another moment, day, week, season. But it is true right now, and that is all we need to know.

Enjoy!!
