Path to healing

Rumi has famously said that, "Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it."

This is beautiful, wise advice.  The problem is exactly how to find the barriers within, and what to do with them once they have been found.  It reminds me of the New Age advice to "choose love," or to "raise your vibration."  These ideas point in a positive direction, but lack the practical steps of how to do so.  I am a literal person, and it feels disempowering to know what should be done, but with no earthly idea of how to do so.

So, after years of practicing various energy practices and listening to the deepest whispers of the woods, I have assembled a consistent, practical, grounded process to remove barriers to peace and love.

Here we go:
  • Step 1: Notice that something has disturbed my peace.  Anything that disturbs my peace can be healed once I realize that I am carrying an active, painful energy pattern.
    • That's all it is - an active, painful energy pattern.
    • My true nature is bliss, love, peace.  Peace.  Anything that is not peace is a barrier to peace.  It was a coping technique employed to keep me safe.  I no longer need it, and am ready to release it.
  • Step 2: Ask for help: "Great Creator, please help me now!  I can't do this alone.  Please release this painful, compulsive, energy pattern."
    • Thank you!
  • Step 3: Choose to release it.  This is an acquired this energy pattern - it is not mine.  My true nature is bliss, love, peace.  Peace.  Anything that is not my truest nature of peace is an acquired energy pattern, a coping technique.  It is a barrier to knowing my true nature, which is ready and waiting for me underneath this coping technique.  Energy patterns can be inherited, learned in the family/upbringing, or experienced through the culture or trauma.  It actually doesn't matter how or why it was acquired, what matters is realizing that an energy pattern has been activated, knowing that it is acquired (and can therefor be unacquired), knowing that it is a barrier to knowing my true nature, and choosing to release it.  This is a choice, and must be made consciously.
    • Seeing the energy pattern for what it is, an acquired coping technique and barrier to my true self, is what makes it no longer mine to carry.  I can now choose differently, and choose to release and to return it.  Once I claim that it is not mine to carry, it is no longer mine to carry.  It is ready to be released.  It's that simple.
    • Releasing that which is not mine is a releasing of that which stands between me and my highest truth, my true nature, my divine connection.
  • Step 4: Thank the energy pattern and return it to the highest original source.
    • "I have carried this energy pattern for so very long.  It has been a part of me for so long.  It kept me safe when I was unable to keep myself safe.  Thank you.  I now choose to release it, and to return it to the highest original source with love and gratitude.  With honor for all.  Thank you."
    • Also, if it feels appropriate: "Help me, ancestors.  I honor your fate, your path, your way, and I also honor my own: my fate, my path, my way.  Bless me in releasing, returning, and restoring this energy pattern to the highest original source."
    • Or, "I am grateful for the energy pattern.  It kept me safe until I was able to keep myself safe.  It got me here, this far in life.  I’m grateful for the energy pattern for the role it has played in keeping me safe.  I now take complete responsibility for keeping myself safe."
  • Step 5: Restoration.  Energy can be neither created nor destroyed.  When I return the energy pattern to the highest original source, I am returning it's absent energy to it.  Releasing that which is not mine to carry frees me to more fully carry that which is mine.  Both of us are restored to greater wholeness, integrity.  Greater wholeness and integrity is healing.
  • Step 6: Rest and recognize what it feels like to imagine "that which is mine to carry," like my natural state of peace, filling the body.  When I release energy that is not mine, it leaves more space to carry that which is mine - for my true nature, my Divine energy, to fill the released space.
    • Spending a moment to feel this filling my body, to acknowledge it, and appreciate it, feels amazing.  Every time.  It feels healing to release the painful energy, and know that I am restored to peace, and that I have created greater balance in the whole in the process.

Release.  Return.  Reclaim.  Restore.  Rest.  Repeat.

Blessings.
